Snyder Printer Marks 120th Business Anniversary

On October 24, 1895, Walter Snyder opened a printing business in Troy, NY. The company witnessed the evolution of printing from wood type to linotype and digital printing.

On October 24, 2015, Snyder Printer marked its 120th business anniversary. Today, this fourth-generation family owned company is led by Walter Snyder’s great-granddaughter, Dona Snyder-Reardon. She continues the family tradition of quality printing while ensuring that Snyder Printer is a leader in the area of environmental sustainability. For example, Snyder Printer:

  • Holds The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Chain of Custody Certification (COC). The Forest Stewardship Council encourages responsible management of the world’s forests. The Chain-of-Custody Certification documents the flow of the fiber that becomes paper from forests to paper manufacturers and merchants to the printer holding FSC COC Certification.
  • Prints all materials using the Staccato screening process that minimizes ink consumption and creates less waste. All elements of the printing process – chemistry, plates, ink and paper – are recycled.
  • Uses 908 BIO Series environmentally friendly inks. These soy/vegetable-based inks are made from 100% natural raw materials.
  • Reduces emissions from the printing process by lowering the level of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs). As a member of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP), Snyder Printer has met or exceeded all OSHA regulations for health and safety for the last ten years – the only New York State printer to achieve this recognition.

Congratulations to Snyder Printer as our client celebrates “The Power of Print for 120 Years.”
